Who We Are

Santa Rosa French-American Charter School (SRFACS) is a public French dual immersion school in Santa Rosa, California. SRFACS is part of the AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad) and one of over 60 AEFE partner schools (including public charter and private schools) in North America.

The SRFACS Chess Team began in 2021, sending teams to compete regionally the last three years. In November 2025 SRFACS sent an elementary (3rd-5th) and a middle school (6th-8th) team to the AEFE North American chess tournament where the students played other teams as well as a chess grandmaster.

In 2025 the middle school team placed first in the competition, as the elementary team had done the year before in 2024. The SRFACS team has been invited to a tournament, hosted by the French Chess Federation, in France in June 2026.

Summer 2025 the SRFACS elementary team was one of only 26 elementary teams worldwide invited to play in France! After 3 days of competition, our students (grade 3 to grade 5) finished 5th overall!
